Product Rant: Top 10 Overrated Beauty Products

Some makeup products work great on some people and on others not so much. There are tons of beauty products that get lots of hype, but in the end do not live up to our expectations. I know we’ve all bought products before because everyone is talking about them, and then once we try it realize it’s nowhere near as good as we thought it would be. Here are a few:

10. Mac Makeup Bruhses

Now I know there are some die hard MAC fans out there, but let’s be real… you can easily get makeup brushes that are just as good as the MAC brushes and half the price. For example, Real Techniques.

9. Maybelline Great Lash

This product has been featured on every second magazine page, and it makes everyone who sees it want to buy it because of how pretty it looks on the outside. Unfortunately, it’s literally one of the clumpiest mascara’s you can buy and I haven’t met one person who actually likes it.

8. NARS Lip Pencil

I recently splurged on a NARS Lip Pencil because I read so many good reviews online, and let me just say, as much as I loved the color and high pigmentation it offered, it smudged off so easily and barely lasted more than an hour. For that reason I wouldrather have bought 3 drugstore brand lipsticks that would actually stay on and not require me to check every 5 minutes if it was still on my lips.

7. BeneFitCosmeticsGimmebrow

I was so excited to buy this brow filler, but unfortunately, if you don’t have light brown eyebrows it’s literally like taking a pencil and coloring in your brows. The color is either really grey or just super light for dark black brows. Definitely much cheaper to just buy an eyebrow pencil from the drugstore.

6. Baby Lips Lip Balm

As pretty as the packaging is on the outside, this lip balm did not moisturize my lips AT ALL. It is super greasy and tasted really bad. Not worth spending more money on than a regular Chapstick.

5. Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser

Again another product that looks so appealing on the outside, but was a total bust. It was super oily and just made my skin shiny and greasy.

4. BenetintCheek & Lip Stain

Just another product that looks so good on the outside, but doesn’t live up to expectations. Even though the color is really pretty when applied, it doesn’t stay on AT ALL and made my skin look even oilier than it already was.

3. Maybelline Line Stiletto Ultimate Precision Liquid Eyeliner

As much as I loved how black the color was of this liquid liner, the brush is just way too thick! For anyone who wants to do winged eyeliner, this product will only just frustrate you.

2. ELF Essential Lipstick

I don’t know if it’s just me, but this lipstick is so dry and so sheer. Even though ELF is generally cheaper than most brands, it’s worth putting an extra $5 to get a better lipstick.

1. Volume Express The Mega Plush Mascara

Don’t let the beautiful blue bottle fool you, this mascara, like most Maybelline mascara’s, is clumpy and doesn’t give a good volumizing effect either. Also the flexy brush only makes it harder to apply.
