Top 5 Skin Care Procedures and Products You Should Definitely Invest In This Summer
If you’re anything like me, my skin is never consistent. A couple years ago I suffered from oily skin, to sensitive and acne-prone skin, to what I currently have — dry skin. And to anyone who has dry skin, you know it’s not fun. The flakiness shows through your foundation, and just makes your make up look blotchy.
My many trips to cosmetic stores had me spending great amounts on products I’ve never even heard of to combat this. For the longest time, I was under the impression that the flakiness was strictly a result of the past products I put on my face. And, as much truth there is behind that statement, there are other factors largely at play, too. (HYDRATION!) This post will focus on the top skin care procedures from home-made masks to gentle scrubs and lotions that won’t puncture a hole in your wallet.
Before trying any sort of face care products, it helps to know what is in them and what your skin might be allergic to. If you don’t know, try testing a small amount on your hand to see if there are any sort of reactions. If not, you’re good to go!
Skincare is so underrated, but it’s time we start focusing more on it! Skincare is one of your biggest investments, and as a result, you want to take care of it by using the right products, not products that will leave your skin dry and damaged (Apricot scrub, I’m looking at you!) The general rule of thumb here is that you want to opt for products that leave out harsh ingredients, and introduce more natural ones. Sometimes, this can get expensive. But it doesn’t have to be! Without further ado, here are the Top 5 Skin Care Procedures and Products You Should Definitely Invest In!
Coconut oil, sugar, and honey face mask
This mask is more of an exfoliate than anything, but nonetheless it definitely is one of my all-time favorites because it’s made out of everyday items. No extra expenses here!

What I really like about this face mask is how well it removes the dead skin off your face. Sugar is a gentle, non-abrasive scrub and can be used as frequently as needed. It is also a humectant, therefore it retains the moisture in your skin. Sugar is definitely my go-to ingredient when it comes to masks because of how easily it strips the dead skin. Honey makes for a great exfoliate as well due to its mild alpha-hydroxy acids. These acids loosen the bond between dead skin, making it much easier to shed this layer. Finally, coconut oil is an excellent all-natural moisturizer for your skin, so even when you scrub off the mask, you’re still left with skin as smooth as a baby’s bottom. Seriously.

I swear by this cleanser. It is formulated without the use of parabens and phthalates, and although it is ideal for all skin types from normal to oily, it is definitely a dream come true if you suffer from dry skin. It’s gentle, and one of my more “everyday” products, but what I like most about this product is that you definitely get your moneys worth. Just lather a dime-sized amount on your face, and watch it work its magic. Did I mention it’s a 2-in-1? Meaning you can use it for make up removal while simultaneously exfoliating your skin. It’s definitely a must-have in your skin care regime.

I’ve never seen a product like this, and after one use I was hooked. A little bit on the expensive side, but again, it’s one of those products you can use for a long time. A little goes a long way with this peel, too. It’s also formulated without parabens, sulfates, phthalates, it’s free of preservatives, artificial fragrance, colour, gluten and ethanol alcohol.
The way this peel works is that it lightly attaches to old dead skin cells and as you rub it on your skin, you can see it physically removing the dead skin thanks to its volcanic sand. The best part about it is that it doesn’t leave your skin feeling dry. Just make sure you apply it on a clean, and dry face. This is not meant to remove make up. It does get a little messy, but its effective! I’d use this product 1-2 times a week for optimal results!

I am hooked on this moisturizer. This moisturizer provides 24 hour hydration to your skin. Ideal for dryness! Goodbye flakiness! If you have sensitive skin like me, you know that finding a moisturizer that doesn’t feel like it’s burning your face upon application is essential. This product does just that, and more. After exfoliating your face, this product not only provides the moisture your skin needs, but it acts as a good base for your makeup.
There are so many benefits to this product, I don’t know where to begin. It’s gentle as it can get, smells fantastic, and absorbs quickly into the skin. I’m on my second jar, and I can’t get enough!
